What does it mean to love across distances — of time, memory, or parallel lives? In Whispers of Desire, Anurag Talukdar writes with raw vulnerability and lyrical grace, capturing the emotional contours of desire in all its hues. Whether it’s an imaginary muse, a faded photograph, or the ache of words left unsaid, these poems transcend biography to touch something eternal in the human heart. This is poetry for those who have ever loved deeply and dared to feel the pain.

Anurag’s verses guide like lamp posts, illuminating the dark alleys of our hidden inner world.
Fierce truths balanced with subtle vulnerabilities. Raw emotions draped in soft words. Long-lost questions unraveled in tender answers.
In his own words, “desires long forgotten will grip your soul” in an unforgettably poetic grasp.
Take your chance — indulge fully in this pool of dreams.

Anurag Talukdar masterfully navigates the seemingly distinct yet deeply complementary worlds of high-stakes global corporate strategy and the nuanced art of poetry. For over two decades, he has journeyed through the ranks of several multinational corporations, currently serving as the Head and Director of Global Operations Support for a prominent Fortune 500 company.
This demanding career, marked by his certification as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and an MBA, has seen him lead operations, drive transformations, and leverage analytics across a diverse range of organizations – from Airtel to Wipro, Cognizant, IQVIA, and Labcorp – and across the vibrant tapestry of Indian cities: Kolkata, Shillong, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, and his current base, Bangalore.
Yet, beyond the boardroom and the complexities of global operations, lies another profound facet of Anurag’s intellect and heart: his poetry. He is the author of two published collections that have resonated with readers. Poetry Anthology-1, Anurag Talukdar (2020) was noted for its “breezy read” and the gentle ache of nostalgic yearning it evoked. Fragments of Life (2023) was praised for its “simplicity and the ache” in capturing the universal threads of human experience. This present collection, Whispers of Desire, emerges from the same wellspring of keen observation and deep reflection that informs his multifaceted life.
Anurag’s engagement with language and intellect extends beyond poetry. A passionate quizzer, he has triumphed in numerous contests at both regional and national levels and once helmed quiz columns for several newspapers in North East India. His creative pursuits also include scriptwriting for multiple documentaries for both television and radio, showcasing a versatile talent for storytelling across different mediums.
The artistic inclinations run deep in Anurag’s family. His father, Dhiren Talukdar, was a respected poet and short story writer, laying an early foundation for Anurag’s own literary journey. His mother, Kusum Talukdar, is a renowned singer and actress, instilling in him an appreciation for the power and beauty of artistic expression. Following in their multilingual footsteps, Anurag is adept in English, Hindi, and Assamese, allowing him to connect with diverse linguistic landscapes.
For the past eighteen years, Anurag has shared his life with his wife, Upasana, and together they cherish their sixteen-year-old son, Rian. Though Bangalore serves as their primary residence, the pull of his roots remains strong, leading to frequent travels to Guwahati.
Beyond his roles as a poet and a keen quizzer, Anurag is an avid reader, a devoted fan of Test cricket’s strategic intricacies, and a passionate music enthusiast, occasionally finding solace and joy in strumming his guitar and singing a favorite tune.
Finally, and perhaps most profoundly, Anurag’s personal journey as the father of an autistic son has ignited within him a fervent commitment to disability inclusion. He actively champions Autism Spectrum Disorder awareness and tirelessly advocates for the empowerment of individuals and their families.
